Benefits communication is one of the biggest factors when it comes to how satisfied your employees are with their job. Employees who are very satisfied with their benefits options are four times more likely to be satisfied with their jobs, according to a study done by MetLife. Keep these tips in mind to help improve the benefits communication at your business.

  • Inform without overwhelming – it is important that all of your employees fully understand all of their aspects of their benefits options. You should be communicating their options in a clear and easy to understand way, as well as answer any questions that they have. When sharing any benefits information, it should include information on eligibility, cost, timing, and coverage.
  • Use various communication channels – information for benefits that are offered should come from various channels, such as flyers, payroll inserts, email, online portals, phone support, webinars, social media, and in-person education sessions. Take the time to survey your employees to find out what channels they find most effective, and be ready to use various forms of communication at the same time.
  • Customize your communication – different generations of employees are going to be interested in different communication, as well as different benefits. Baby boomers tend to prefer more traditional forms of communication, such as face to face meetings, while Gen Xers prefer tech options, such as webinars. Working to optimize the way that you communicate your employee’s benefits can help to make sure that they get the most out of their benefits.
