Cheap Spring Cleaning
Spring is in full swing, which means it is time to pull out your spring cleaning list to help your house shine from top to bottom. Keep these cheap spring cleaning tips in mind to help you save money while also keeping your house looking its best.
- Freshen your garbage disposal – put small lemon slices in each section of an ice cube tray, pour vinegar over them, and then freeze. When you have to clean your disposal, throw a couple down and turn on the garage disposal until the cubes are completely chopped up.
- Deep clean your oven – bring 2 cups of water to a boil and preheat your oven to 200 degrees, and then turn it off. Pour the boiling water into a baking dish, and 2 cups of ammonia into another dish. Put both dishes into the oven, with the ammonia on the top rack, and leave overnight. The ammonia will help to loosen the caked on grease to make it easy to wipe off in the morning.
- Wipe away water stains – lightly dampen a dryer sheet, and simply wipe away any water stains on your shower door.
- Dust your ceiling fan – your ceiling fan can collect a thick layer dust that can be spread around the room when you turn it on. Spray a little dusting spray on each fan blade, one at a time, and slide into a pillow case. As you pull the case off, press your hand down.
- Get rid of pet hair – as your pet sheds, their hair can get pressed into your carpet. Use a squeegee on your carpet and furniture to pull up any excess pet hair.
