What You Need to Know About Your Worker’s Compensation Policy

July 14, 2015General ArticlesBailey Helton

Worker’s Compensation Savings

If you have any number of employees, you know how important it is to make sure that they stay safe on the job. Even if you take all the proper precautions, there is always a chance that someone will be injured at work. That is where your worker’s compensation insurance policy comes in.

Worker’s compensation will pay for any medical bills that are associated with the injury, as well as any lost wages while your employee is out of work. The policy will also provide coverage for you as a business owner, since it prohibits the employee from suing you after an injury. Worker’s compensation is required by law, but there are many ways to help keep the cost of your policy as low as possible, including:

  • Look for credits – there are many credits that are available to help you save money, including if you have a drug and alcohol free workplace. If you meet certain criteria for these credits, you will be able to lower your monthly premiums.
  • Get an audit – a workplace audit can help you figure out where the biggest dangers at your office are. Once you know where the dangers are, you will be able to fix any issues that you find. While an audit may not seem fun, it can help to keep your employees safe. The less risks your business includes, the more you can save.
  • Safety equipment – make sure all of your employees have the proper safety equipment that you need to stay safe. The lower the risk that any of your employees will be injured, the lower your rates will be.

When looking for the right worker’s compensation insurance policy that will protect you and your employees, contact the insurance professionals at Phocus Companies in Phoenix, Arizona.
