Understand Your Workers Compensation Benefits

August 25, 2016Commercial Insurance, General ArticlesBailey Helton

Choose the right Workers Compensation Plan for Ultimate Value!

Accidents are an inevitable part of life, but they don’t have to be detrimental to the health and well-being of your employees. Workers’ compensation insurance can provide a valuable resource to individuals injured on the job. However, choosing the right plan and understanding the benefits of workers’ compensation may seem a bit confusing. Not to fear! Phocus Insurance, located in Phoenix, Arizona, can take the guesswork out of insurance purchases. Here are benefits typically covered by workers’ compensation.

  • Medical Coverage: This benefit includes doctor visits, hospital care, prescription medications, physical therapy, and other medical treatments. If the injuries sustained create a need for medical equipment, such as wheelchairs and crutches, they will more than likely be covered as well!
  • Disability: In addition to medical coverage, disability provides a partial replacement of lost income when employees are unable to work due to an on-the-job injury. There are four types of disability:
    • Temporary Total Disability: An employee is unable to complete any work at all, but only for a limited amount of time.
    • Temporary Partial Disability: An employee is unable to perform various duties of the job (but not all) for a limited amount of time.
    • Permanent Total Disability: An employee is unable to return to his or her former job or a similar one because of permanent damage.
    • Permanent Partial Disability: An employee is unable to perform certain aspects of his or her job because of permanent damage.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation: This coverage enables workers who cannot return to their prior occupation to receive medical and therapeutic rehabilitation. These services help employees to cope and recover from their injuries, as well as regain the necessary skills and abilities they need to return to work.
  • Death Benefits: If the unthinkable happens, the family of the deceased worker will be compensated.

Although these benefits are generally the same from state to state, the amount of compensation they offer does indeed vary. Therefore, it would be wise to look into your own state’s laws regarding workers’ compensation to get an idea of what is covered for you.

Learn all the nuances of workers’ compensation and let the professionals at Phocus Insurance find you the best policies for your needs. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, we serve all your personal and commercial insurance needs. Contact us for more information.
