How to Sleep Better to Improve Your Work Week

There are many sleep wellness tips that you can use to get a good night’s rest. If you have an opportunity to enjoy the benefits of oversleeping on weekends, make sure to take it! It will allow your body to repair itself from the minor injuries we sometimes don’t realize we receive. However, the key is learning how to get the rest you need every time you lay down to rest. A power nap is the quickest and most efficient way to recharge during the day, but nothing will take the place of a good night’s sleep.

Eliminate Distractions

With today’s fast-paced world, distractions are everywhere. Eliminating them from your bedroom is one of the best ways to ensure you will get a good night’s sleep. Turn off your electronics and tell your friends and family to avoid calling after 9:00 p.m. If you have pets, get them in the habit of going out right before bedtime so they won’t keep waking you up at all hours of the night.

Keep Electronics Out of the Bedroom

Many people fall asleep listening to the radio or watching their favorite movie or television show. While this can be relaxing before falling asleep, it can be disruptive, preventing you from reaching the deep sleep you need to feel energized once you wake up. Move the television and other electronics out of the bedroom. This eliminates distractions and gives your mind a chance to get away from the day to day routine that must be dealt with while you are awake.

Take Some Time to Relax Before Bedtime

Going to bed without dealing with the stress of the day is not a good idea. Instead of constantly thinking about everything you have to do over your day, take the time to put it aside. Allow your mind to relax. The stress and frustration of your day to day activities can prevent you from getting a good night’s sleep. Take a hot bath or relax in the hot tub. Go for a walk or simply spend time with your family.

Drink a Cup of Herbal Tea

Drinking a cup of herbal tea (with no caffeine) can be relaxing, especially if you play soft music in the background. Dim the lights and enjoy a few minutes of solitude. You can also read a good book or look through one of your favorite magazines. Take your tea with you when you soak in the tub. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a few quiet minutes of reflection.
