It’s that time of year again! Get out your broomsticks, jack-o-lanterns, and spookiest décor, Halloween is almost here. As you prepare for a big night of trick-or-treating with your kids, don’t forget to brush up on your Halloween safety. Before heading out for a night of fun and frolic, sit down with your kids and talk about safety. Check out these Halloween safety tips to share with your kiddos so that you can rest easy knowing they’re safe and secure.
It’s important to dress comfortably on Halloween. Ensure your kids wear a pair of comfortable walking shoes and a costume with a high hem. That way you can prevent your kids from tripping. Additionally, keep your children’s peripheral vision intact, and avoid any masks.
Make it clear that your child isn’t to wander off. They must always stay near an adult they know, and they must pick a trick-or-treating buddy to stick with all night. There’s safety in numbers.
Halloween is the one night of the year when it’s okay to take candy from a stranger. Reinforce to your children that they aren’t allowed to get to talk with strangers, and that they are under no circumstances permitted to enter anyone’s home while trick-or-treating.
Before your kids eat their Halloween candy, it’s imperative that you check to ensure that they don’t eat any candies with open wrappers or handmade candies. Discard any open candies, then let your kids enjoy.
