Baseball is one of America’s favorite pastimes, and heading out to a game with the whole family is a great way to enjoy the summer. While baseball games are full of fun, they can also be dangerous if you do not take the right precautions. Keep these baseball game safety tips in mind to fully enjoy the game.
- Check the weather – summer baseball games can be very hot, so make sure to check the weather before you head out. You should also check to see where your seats are to find out if you will be sitting in the evening sun.
- Dress appropriately – after checking the weather, make sure to plan your outfit accordingly. Loose, lightweight, light colored clothing can help to keep you cool during hot temperatures. You should also consider bringing a hat while the sun is still out. If a rainstorm is in the forecast, pack the right gear, such as a rain poncho.
- Stay hydrated – it is very easy to get dehydrated while sitting outside watching a game. The best way to stay hydrated is to gulp down some water or get a refreshment in between innings. Try to avoid caffeine or alcohol, which can dehydrate you even further.
- Look up – no matter where you are sitting, you are always at risk of being hit by a fly ball. Keeping your head up can help to ensure that you can see the ball coming and act appropriately. Before you lean over a wall to catch a fly ball, make sure to consider your safety, as well as how it may upset other fans for interfering with the game.
